Hatched Talent Solutions arepartnering with a market leading renewablesbusiness who are looking for a PrincipalElectrical System Specialist to lead allelectrical engineering aspects of ourproducts and services.
Their tidalturbine generation systems span from rotor to grid, consisting ofMV generators, switchgear, subsea cablesand connectors, power converters, balance of plant, a wide rangeof instrumentation and monitoring systems,actuators and drives, PLC control systems and plantSCADA systems.
This is a varied role requiring anexperienced professional with a broadunderstanding of electricalengineering in a renewable power generationcontext.
Asthe Principal Electrical SystemsSpecialist, you will lead electricalengineering workstreams, from concept designthrough to FAT, commissioning and in-service support.You will work independently, collaborate withinthe team, understand the applicable supplychain and develop partnerships that will enablethem to fulfilltheirobjectives.
Please note - this is not amanagement role and you will need to be able to confidently proposeand review solutions by coming up withyour owninnovative ideas and assessing others' to ultimately make arecommendation on what should be done inyourdomain.
Othersdo the detaileddesign. The rolewill develop over time as their projects deliver. There will be theopportunity tolead.
KeyAccountabilities
* Developdetailed work breakdowns and prioritisation of tasks to deliverproject scope.
* Deliver the tasking efficiently throughindependent work and managing by external suppliers.
*Produce and/or lead and review documentation and analyses such astechnical requirement specifications, scopes of work, bases ofdesign, engineering design reports, electrical schematics, singleline diagrams, power flow analyses, harmonic studies, protectionstudies, grid code compliance documents,detailed component specifications.
* Specify and reviewsolutions for LV and MV systems, rotating machines, powerconverters,
switchgear, protective devices, transformers,cables, control panels, metering,instrumentation,
earthing systems, energy storagesystems.
* Support the verification and validationprocess, from requirements definition, throughformal design reviews, to FAT and hands-oncommissioning.
* Identify andapply relevant regulations, standards and industrypractices.
It is important that youhave:
* An enthusiastic andproactive attitude.
* A degree in a relevant engineeringdiscipline and domain knowledge gained throughrelevant experience (minimum 5 years inindustry) providing you with the confidence to leadactivities within yourspecialism.
* An ability to solve complex problems usinginnovative thinking.
* Significant design and buildexperience as part of a multi-disciplinary team, preferablyincluding electrical power systems,instrumentation and control systems and systemmodelling.
* Experience in delivering relevantengineering services throughout the project lifecycle;design, build, FAT, installation,commissioning and in-service.
* Proven track record ofdelivering to time and cost targets and acceptable qualitystandards including day-to-day managementof partners and contractors.
*Significant experience of verbal and written technicalcommunications including presentationof outputs to internal stakeholders,origination and verification of reports andspecifications,
drawings and other design data, to a veryhigh professional standard.
* Experience of simulationand analysis of electrical power systems.
* Excellentplanning and organisational skills, time keeping andteamwork
Itwould also be valuable if youhave:
* Experience in wind orother renewable energy systems
* Experience insubsea/offshore power distribution
* Experience workingwith the National Grid or a District Network Operator
*Experience planning and executing integration, test andcommissioning activities.
* Ability to work with suitablyqualified electrical technicians and Senior Authorised Persons tocarry out electrical installationworks
