We are delighted to announce a development opportunity for the position of Lead Operator at our Immingham Plant.
This is a developmental role designed to prepare candidate(s) for the responsibilities of Lead Operator. Upon application and successful interview, the individual will then complete the required training and complete the development program of approx. 6 months, the successful candidate(s) will then transition into the Team Leader role.
What you'll be doing:
Within the Lead Operator role, you will support the Shift Manager in ensuring safe, efficient manufacturing and dispatch operations. Maintain product quality through rigorous checks, swift decision-making, and problem-solving. Escalate ideas or issues to relevant departments and lead daily meetings to ensure clear communication across teams. Collaborate with QA, engineering, and other leads, while driving continuous improvement initiatives.
* Maintain high standards of Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality compliance.
* Coordinate training and upskilling of operators on shift.
* Report to the Shift Manager and provide cover when required.
* Plan, organise, delegate and lead your team in partnership with your manager.
* Be accountable of area ownership and take responsibility to sustain Workplace Standard.
* Supervise and coordinate day-to-day operations to ensure targets and KPI’s are met or exceeded.
* Conduct daily shift team briefing meetings. Deliver daily reports and present in meetings.
* Providing encouragement to team members, including communicating team goals and identifying areas for new training or skill checks.
* Ensure regular quality checks in production for first class products in line with quality standards and working closely with our technical team.
* Ensure comprehensive records are logged and maintained. Use of production base computer systems and spreadsheets.
* Define the maintenance need of the process, raise these into SAP and daily meetings, take part and lead maintenance/operation related topics.
* Ensuring the sustainability of the CI system, leading or a part of CI studies.
* Challenge the norm to identify and propose ideas and solutions that will increase efficiency in production, cost, or time.
* Contribute, support and improve team performance by working collaboratively, sharing knowledge and best practices.
* Ensure people are utilised during production and periods of down time.
* Organise and oversee production line change overs, ensuring that the production line is set up ready to meet the production plans, and run at maximum efficiency.
* Provides quality customer service, including interacting with customers and effectively assisting in customer complaints when requested.
What we'd love for you to have:
* Previous experience working within a plant operator role on the boardline.
* Excellent communication skills, including verbal and written abilities.
* Strong report writing skills.
* Basic engineering knowledge and practical skills.
* Extensive experience and understanding of continuous process plants.
* Familiarity with quality systems and procedures.
* A working knowledge of health and safety systems and permit-to-work systems.
* Structured evaluation and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
Development and Support:
Successful candidates will undertake a comprehensive training program designed to equip them with the skills and knowledge required to excel as a Lead Operator. Progress will be monitored, and support will be provided to ensure successful completion of the program and readiness for the role.
