Founded in 2004, Homotopia is an arts and social justice organisation making a cultural impact through art and activism through a programme of artist development, public artworks, events, and the UK’s longest running Queer arts and culture festival. Born and bred in Liverpool, our work supports and platform local, national, and international Queer and Trans creatives, artists, and makers.
The role
The Treasurer will provide strategic financial leadership, helping to ensure the charity’s financial sustainability, compliance, and effectiveness. They will support the board in making informed financial decisions and help Homotopia achieve its mission.

What You’ll Do:
* Help oversee our financial health and sustainability
* Monitor and feedback on budgets, audits, and financial strategy
* Help us make informed, impactful decisions
Specific Duties May Include:
* Ensure that the Board receives appropriate budgetary and financial information on the activities of the charity including Annual Accounts.
* Ensure the board fulfills its financial responsibilities in compliance with legal and regulatory standards, including overseeing reporting to funders and relevant statutory bodies.
* Monitor the financial health of Homotopia, providing advice on financial strategy and sustainability, as well as constructive challenges and insight.
* Advise on financial risk management, ensuring appropriate mitigations are in place.
* Help to ensure the annual budget aligns with Homotopia’s strategic priorities and mission.
* Regularly support the Interim Director and Finance Officer in evaluating Homotopia’s financial systems and processes, ensuring they are robust, transparent, and fit for purpose.
* Ensure compliance with financial and governance obligations, including charity and company law.
Person Specification:
Essential Skills and Experience:
* Finance and Accountancy: Professional experience in finance, accountancy, or a related field.
* Financial Planning and Budgeting: Proven ability to oversee financial planning and budgeting processes.
* Financial Processing and Systems: Knowledge of effective financial systems and processes, with a commitment to best practices.
* Auditing: Familiarity with auditing practices, including external audit processes and requirements.
* Business Acumen: Understanding of sustainability and how financial strategy supports operational goals.
* Understanding of LGBTQIA+ communities and a commitment to Homotopia’s values.
