Job Overview Parry Ward is looking for highly motivated and committed individuals, to join the endocrinology team as a Junior Sister. As a junior sister you will be expected to lead and manage the ward with the support of the senior sister, you will have opportunities to build on and develop your leadership and management skills. Parry Ward is a 28 bedded specialist endocrinology and general medicine ward caring for a variety of patients with many different conditions. We look after a range of medical patients with a variety of conditions and work closely with multiple professional teams to provide holistic care and positive patient outcomes. The nursing team includes two nurse practitioners as well as specialist nurses and clinicians, who support the care of patients on the ward and support staff to develop their clinical skills. Main duties of the job To maintain accountability for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating programmes of care within the framework of team nursing incorporating the Named Nurse initiative. To proactively co-ordinate the patients’ discharge arrangements in accordance with RUH Discharge Policy ensuring involvement of other agencies as necessary. To promote a patient focused approach to care in collaboration with all relevant health professionals. To promote and maintain effective communication within the ward/department, GPs and community staff and other hospitals with regard to ongoing patient care. To educate patients and their carers as required where a need has been identified. To supervise junior staff in the delivery of care, through effective monitoring, mentoring, clinical supervision and reflective practice. To demonstrate effective budgeting practice, exercising care and economy, supported by appropriate documentation. To develop partnerships with Finance & HR department and divisional management teams in order to: Gain an understanding of resource management processes. Have representation in service development issues.
