What we need: Carrington West are looking for a reliable Project Manager with highways experience to work with our client, a major contractor on a major highways scheme in Bristol. Working for a Major contractor to National Highways covering a major highways scheme, you will be expected to manage established site and contact systems to control the flow of engineering information between the company and client on a large live scheme. Responsible for the performance of Supervisors and Foremen under your control, you will continually appraise and develop their skills, whilst generating and reviewing H&S paperwork and identifying engineering discrepancies within the works information to resolve these issues to ensure works are constructed with the full agreement of the Designer.
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
1. Plan and oversee all aspects of a project from cradle to grave.
2. Defining a project's scope and goals.
3. Identify safe and unsafe working conditions.
4. Planning and scheduling project timelines.
5. Coordinating project staff.
6. Resource planning and allocation.
7. Quality assurance.
8. Carrying out method statement and risk assessment.
9. Managing project administration, including all documentation.
10. Meeting budgetary objectives.
11. Reporting regularly to senior management.
12. Tracking project performance.
13. Raise EWN's & Raise TQ's.
14. Organise resources (labour, plant, materials, sub-contractors) on each site to complete the work to plan and programme.
15. Ensure that all plant & machinery provided for the works is suitable for the tasks being undertaken.
16. Ensure site-related paperwork is completed and issued to the relevant department(s) on a weekly basis.
17. Monitor working hours, to ensure compliance with WTD.
18. Responsibility for performance of Supervisors and Foremen under their control and to continually appraise and develop their skills.
19. Coach and look after new starters, so that they become competent to work alongside a motorway or high-speed road.
20. Organise training of employees in the various skills required for execution of the works.
21. Annual appraisals.
22. Ensure that only trained personnel are used for the activities being undertaken.
What you will need to succeed:
To be considered for this opportunity, you will be an experienced Project Manager with sound knowledge of the Construction on highways projects. Those who can demonstrate good understanding of highways will be much preferred, with qualifications to include:
1. HND / HNC qualified or equivalent (Civil Engineering or similar).
2. First Aid.
3. CSCS.
4. SSSTS or SMSTS essential.
Works will be carried out onsite during the day, 5 days a week.
