Weetons Leeds Road is a brand new retail and dining destination on the outskirts of Harrogate! Offering a stunning, newly created premium home & garden hall, foodhall, established plant & garden centre, alongside our delectable restaurant and cafe.
In addition to our retail and dining experiences, we also cater for events of all scales in our beautiful on-site Barrows & outdoor events space. Everything from weddings to corporate functions, birthday parties and everything in between.
The Role
We are seeking an exceptional individual to manage the events side of our business, taking ownership for in-store events and predominantly private events and functions.
With the reinvigoration of our site, our events space is now in high demand for private events: wedding parties, birthdays, anniversaries and corporate gatherings. With space for up to 150 people and an external garden area, the potential growth of this business area is huge and we are looking for the right person to maximise this opportunity.
Key Responsibilities
* Proactively seeking opportunities to promote the event space with full ownership and accountability for the department sales and growth.
* Working with the Food Services Manager & exec team at large to set and agree the strategy for department sales targets & growth streams.
* Liaising with interested parties over booking requirements.
* Maintaining and developing the venue pack to reflect latest offerings and options.
* Working with our executive chef on food options, menu requirements and bespoke requests.
* Working with our restaurant manager to staff and manage the event.
* Potentially sourcing requirements for the event which may include music, marquee etc, working with the customer to provide a seamless service.
* Presence at events, overseeing and co-ordinating.
* Support with any in-store events from Christmas to summer events and such things as food pairing events, brand tie up experiential evenings and beyond.
Skills Required
* PLEASE NOTE THAT ANY CANDIDATE MUST HAVE SIGNIFICANT EVENTS EXPERIENCE - hospitality experience alone will not fulfill the role requirements.
* Proven commercial success gained within a premium environment with a turnover of >£5m per annum.
* Exemplary oral & written communication skills, able to converse with all levels of the business including the board team.
* Superb organisational and operational leadership skills.
* Collaborative management style.
* Able to remain calm under pressure, possessing excellent conflict & performance management skills.
* Excellent attention to detail, whilst always seeing the bigger picture.
* A positive can-do & solution-oriented attitude, with the ability to embrace change.
* Adept at developing and inspiring teams through coaching and mentoring.
* Outstanding customer service approach.
Duties & Responsibilities
* Overall accountability for the Events profit & loss.
* Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day running of Events to include in-house generated and private functions.
* Knowing & understanding the Weetons brand, its customers, suppliers and team, whilst continually being abreast of key competitor activity, and creating new sales opportunities across price, product and/or promotion as relevant.
* Working closely with the Food Services Manager and Marketing Team to create strategies to drive brand awareness and sales opportunities across the local, national & social networks and ecommerce platform.
* Providing & inspiring exceptional customer service.
* Creating a positive and high performing team culture and recruiting, training and developing staff in partnership with the People Manager.
* Embedding expectations for high standards of self & site presentation at all times.
* Ensuring customer service guidelines are clear and embedded in all staff KPI’s.
* Ensuring that all staff and customers are safe, and all food policies and health & safety procedures are adhered to according to regulations.
Qualifications / Experience
* Educated to degree level - preferable but not essential.
* A minimum of 5 years’ experience in an Events leadership role for a business with a minimum of £1m turnover.
