Training Specialist – John Crane (Slough) - PART TIME - 22.5 Hours (3 Days) Per Week
As a Training Specialist, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and delivering training programs that support the professional development of the John Crane employees and customers. This role requires expertise in instructional design to create engaging, effective, and scalable learning experiences across multiple formats, including eLearning, instructor-led training (ILT), and virtual environments. The training specialist will collaborate with various departments to assess training needs and provide high-quality solutions that align with business goals.
The key responsibilities for the role are as follows:
Training Program Development:
1. Conduct needs assessments to identify skill gaps and training needs.
2. Design and develop engaging, learner-centered instructional materials (eLearning modules, course outlines, manuals, and interactive content) using instructional design best practices.
3. Create both synchronous (live training) and asynchronous (eLearning) learning solutions.
4. Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to ensure the accuracy and relevance of training content.
Training Operations Management:
1. Manage and coordinate the scheduling, logistics, and administration of training programs, including booking venues, organizing virtual platforms, and preparing necessary materials.
2. Oversee the registration process for training participants and maintain accurate attendance records.
3. Coordinate the setup of training environments, including ensuring all necessary equipment, technology, and materials are available and functioning.
Learning Management System (LMS) Administration:
1. Manage course uploads, participant enrolments, and reporting through the organization’s Learning Management System (LMS).
2. Track learner progress and generate reports to assess participation and completion rates.
3. Provide technical support and guidance to users of the LMS as needed.
Collaboration and Communication:
1. Work closely with cross-functional teams, department managers, and external training vendors to ensure smooth execution of training initiatives.
2. Act as a liaison between the Learning & Development team and various business units to coordinate training efforts and address operational needs.
3. Communicate effectively with facilitators and trainers to ensure they are prepared and equipped for successful training delivery.
Instructional Design:
1. Develop instructional materials that align with adult learning theories (ADDIE).
2. Utilize various multimedia technologies (Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, Camtasia, etc.) to develop rich and interactive content.
3. Test and evaluate the effectiveness of training materials, revising as necessary based on feedback and outcomes.
Training Delivery:
1. Facilitate engaging and interactive training sessions, both virtually and in-person, for diverse audiences.
2. Incorporate a variety of instructional techniques (group discussions, role-playing, hands-on activities) to accommodate different learning styles.
Evaluation and Improvement:
1. Measure the effectiveness of training through evaluations, assessments, and feedback from participants.
2. Continuously improve training programs based on feedback, performance data, and industry trends.
3. Maintain and update training content as needed to keep materials current and relevant.
The ideal candidate will have the following skills/experience:
1. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Training & Development, or a related field.
2. Minimum 3-5 years of experience in training, instructional design, or a similar role.
3. Proven experience developing eLearning content and working with authoring tools (Articulate, Captivate, etc.).
4. Experience facilitating virtual and in-person training sessions.
5. Strong knowledge of instructional design principles and adult learning theory.
6. Proficiency in eLearning development software (Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, etc.).
7. Strong organizational and project management skills to manage multiple training programs simultaneously.
8. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and support diverse audiences.
9. Strong problem-solving abilities to address challenges related to training delivery and operations.
10. Attention to detail to ensure that all training sessions are well-coordinated and executed.
11. Technical proficiency with virtual training platforms (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams) and Learning Management Systems (LMS).
12. Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and how to manage training content.
13. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and other relevant software.
