Job Summary:
Work as part of a team having responsibility for maintaining, repairing, and improving all molds and associated parts. Mold Repair Technicians support productivity and quality standards by ensuring the manufacturing machine molds are mechanically sound and function appropriately. This position requires ability to read and understand operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings, and to troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues with little to no supervision.
General Responsibilities:
* Perform routine preventative maintenance to machine molds to ensure that machines and mechanical processes continue to run smoothly, or the physical conditions of machine molds, tools, and parts does not deteriorate.
* Analyze and apply knowledge of old design, construction, and operation to troubleshoot malfunctions on production floor.
* Adjust, repair, replace, fabricate, and reassemble hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical and the mechanical functional parts of machine molds.
* Set up and operate mold repair equipment and tools, lathes, milling machines, CNC machinery.
* Diagnose faults, malfunctions, and mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs, as necessary.
* Use computer software program to monitor and record machine statuses as well as maintain daily records of maintenance or other projects performed.
* Maintain a safe and accident-free environment by adhering to safety standards and identifying safety issues and reporting them to his/her supervisor or the safety manager.
* Shovel, sweep, wipe down, or otherwise clean work areas, equipment, tools, and machinery.
Working Conditions:
Requires considerable use of arms and legs, twisting of body, standing for long periods of time, and regularly lifting up to 25lbs, and occasionally may be required to lift up to 50lbs. In addition, Mold Repair Technicians must be able to maneuver freely while working around machines including but not limited to crawling, kneeling, squatting, reaching, and bending. This position requires working in an environment with extreme temperatures and loud noises, and exposure to odors associated with melting plastics. Must be able to use tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as saws, drills, and wrenches, to fabrication tools, such as grinders, torches, or welders, as well as precision measurement instruments and electronics, such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges. Requires operation of cranes, forklifts, and other industrial vehicles.
Additional Duties/Responsibilities Specific to the Rotational Molding Department May Include:
* Clean and maintain mold parting lines/adjust clamp/receivers/pins on rollouts and bolts as needed (general mold repair).
* Replace damaged seals in mold.
* Clean and remove plastic stuck to outside of molds.
* Manage mold PM and get molds ready to run per schedule.
* Repair molds and/or frames as needed while mold is on machine.
* Maintain supply bolts/clamp/accessories through tool crib.
* Back up the Roto/Compound Technician when needed, including vacation/sick days.
* Keep records/log of mold work done and information needed for outside mold repair for Tooling Engineer.
* Communicate with mold engineer about mold issues.
* Assist Roto Tech on machine mold changes as per scheduling when needed.
* Keep PM area clean and organized.
* Working inside and outside the Rotational Molding area to support the Technical Supervisor’s needs.
Minimum Qualifications:
* Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
* Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
* Must be able to lift 25lbs.
* Must be a team player and able to communicate effectively with co-workers and leadership.
