About the role:
We are currently looking for a passionate and experienced SEN Teacher to deliver a range of subjects across KS3 and KS4. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of autism and complex needs, and a commitment to providing an outstanding education for our pupils.
Please note that this is a maternity cover role due to start in August 2025 until February 2026.
Key Responsibilities:
* Plan, deliver, and assess high-quality teaching and learning using proven methods and approaches that enable autistic young people to succeed.
* Serve as a class tutor, ensuring the pastoral needs of students are met and building strong relationships with parents and carers.
* Teach a range of subjects across the curriculum and take on leadership of a specific subject area.
* Plan and deliver lessons that teach essential life skills.
* Inspire trust and confidence among pupils, colleagues, parents, and other professionals.
* Foster a team-oriented environment both in the classroom and within the wider school community.
* Support the school’s wider aspirations and values.
* Participate in whole-school activities and support the Headteacher as required.
* Uphold all safeguarding procedures, including completing annual safeguarding training and induction training.
* Plan and lead off-site enrichment activities for students.
Person Specification:
* Proven track record as an outstanding teacher with an engaging and effective classroom style that motivates and engages students.
* In-depth knowledge of your specialist subject area and the ability to teach across a variety of subjects, as well as a willingness to adapt and teach other curriculum areas.
* Experience in delivering your specialist subject to at least GCSE level.
* Previous experience working with children with SEN, SEMH, or ASC (Autism Spectrum Condition).
* A commitment to creating engaging learning opportunities and bringing innovative ideas to both in-class and extracurricular activities.
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
