Elevation Recruitment Group are delighted to be working with a growing and successful SME in Sheffield as they look to bring a new Management Accountant into the team.
The Management Accountant will play a crucial role in supporting the Financial Controller with the day to day running of the finance department including overseeing the financial transactions as well as payroll. You will also work closely with operation stakeholders to help manage budgets and forecasts, track performance and KPIs as well as providing financial insights and analysis to the management team.
Key Responsibilities will include:
1. Prepare monthly management accounts, including profit and loss statements and balance sheets
2. Cash flow forecasting
3. Ownership of cost of sales analysis/ reporting
4. Produce variance analysis and commentary on financial performance, highlighting key trends and issues
5. Provide detailed financial analysis to support business decisions, including pricing strategies, investment appraisals and project evaluations
6. Assist in the development and maintenance of financial models to aid long term business objectives
7. Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and quarterly forecasts
8. Monitor and report on budget performance, identifying areas of concern and recommending corrective actions
9. Analyze cost structures and identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvements
10. Assist the project accountant in ad-hoc projects, new business cases and initiatives
11. Weekly KPI reporting
12. Maintaining fixed asset register (inc. depreciation)
13. Working collaboratively with operational stakeholders across the business
14. Managing budgets and forecasts with departments
15. Gather financial data and ensure alignment with overall business objectives
16. Present financial information and insights to senior management and stakeholders in a clear and concise manner
17. Processing company payroll
18. Collating timesheet data
19. Overseeing transactions across both accounts payable and accounts receivable
20. Processing journals
21. Accruals and prepayments
VAT and bank reconciliations
22. Intrastat/ EU reporting
23. Foreign exchange reporting
24. Ensure robust financial controls are in place and adhered to, in line with company policies and regulatory requirements
25. Assist in internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations
26. Always striving to find better ways of doing things for better efficiencies/ driving continuous improvement
Qualifications and Experience:
27. Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ACA) is preferred although part qualified/ qualified by experience will also be considered
28. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a management accounting role
29. Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Sage experience would be desirable although not essential
30. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
31. Strong attention to detail and accuracy
32. Ability to communicate complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders
33. Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines
34. Proactive and self-motivated with a strong sense of initiative
