About the Opportunity
We're representing a long-established and highly respected precision engineering firm with a reputation for solving some of the most complex and high-spec manufacturing challenges in sectors such as scientific, medical, and space.
They're now seeking an experienced and motivated Operations Manager (or someone ready to step into that role) to take ownership of the day-to-day running of their CNC, assembly, and subcontracting operations. If you've got the mindset of a leader, the confidence to make decisions, and the ambition to grow within a business — this could be the one.
Your Role
1. Oversee and coordinate CNC machining, assembly and subcontract workflows
2. Lead and support a skilled team of machinists, technicians, and subcontract partners
3. Manage production planning and scheduling to meet quality and delivery targets
4. Support quoting and costing activities alongside senior leadership
5. Ensure smooth communication between workshop, office and customer touchpoints
6. Manage stock control, material ordering and supplier relationships
7. Support and maintain ISO9001 processes and quality systems
8. Get involved across the business, from technical challenges to commercial insight
9. Bring new ideas for continuous improvement across production and operations
Who You Are
1. You come from a CNC/precision engineering environment — production, planning, estimating, or similar
2. You're confident and organised, with a good head for detail and people management
3. You're just as comfortable leading a morning production meeting as you are calling up a supplier or reviewing a drawing
4. You're commercially aware, or keen to learn — quoting, costing and margin don't scare you
5. You're looking for a company you can grow with — not just a short-term stop
6. You're hands-on when needed, and never afraid to roll your sleeves up
What's In It for You
1. A competitive salary depending on experience and contribution
2. Genuine scope for long-term growth, including potential profit share or future investment
3. Diverse role covering everything from machining and assembly to commercial and operational leadership
4. Work in a close-knit business with real autonomy and zero red tape
5. Be part of a company where your input matters — every day
