We are looking to recruit a Design Manager to join our technical team based in our Scotland East region:
1. Manage the internal architectural team and external consultants to produce high-quality designs/layouts for land purchase bids through to construction.
2. Liaise with Local Planning Authorities and manage a team of consultants to ensure that planning consents are delivered in accordance with the development programme.
3. Engage with local communities and other stakeholder interests as part of the pre-application planning process.
4. Attend meetings with Local Authority planners and urban designers, present proposals positively, and negotiate where required.
5. Work closely with Miller Homes Limited engineering and commercial teams to obtain planning permission and ensure the subsequent delivery of units on site in accordance with the regional business plan/objectives.
The ideal candidate will possess good presentation skills, be able to prepare effective and meaningful site constraints/opportunities plans, be aware of the latest guidance and thinking on layouts, street scene, and urban design matters from a business, site-specific, and regional/area perspective, and have a good understanding of the Building Regulations and the synergy that certain parts of the approved documents have with planning.
