An exciting opportunity has come about for a new role within the Mental Health Liaison team (MHLT) as a Consultant Liaison Psychiatrist with specialist input into eating disorders.
This is a new post following investment by the ICB to move the MHLT towards core 24 provision and support the management of patients with eating disorders in the acute hospital setting.
You will work alongside 3 other Consultant psychiatrists as well as the multi-disciplinary team. You will provide senior medical advice, support, consultancy and clinical leadership to the MHLT at the Gloucestershire Royal Hospital and Cheltenham Hospital sites.
Main duties of the job
1. Providing senior clinical leadership to the MHLT, reviewing complex patients in the medical/surgical wards and offering supervision and advice to non-medical colleagues and Core/Advanced Trainees.
2. Acting as Responsible Clinician for GRH/CGH inpatients who are detained under the MHA to the general hospitals.
3. Attending Mental Health Assessments for general hospital inpatients during normal working hours.
4. Running a Medically Unexplained Symptoms Clinic once per week.
5. Leading psychiatric assessment and management of all age patients with disordered eating admitted to the acute Trust.
Person specification
Qualifications
* GMC registered, on specialist register or eligible (or within 6 months of application)
* MRCPsych completed or equivalent
Experience
* Higher specialist training or equivalent in Adult General Psychiatry
* Experience of Liaison working at consultant or senior level
