We are looking for a full-time HGV Driver for our Guildford branch to ensure our goods are transported to customers in a safe and efficient manner. As one of the county's leading builders' merchants, we pride ourselves on providing exceptional customer service, quality materials and competitive prices. Responsible for the delivery of products to customers, with key accountability for ensuring the quality and timing of service is excellent. This role requires high attention to the loading and unloading of materials to ensure that load security is compliant at all times. The driver will also maintain high standards of housekeeping and vehicle cleanliness, ensuring compliance with all legal, security, health and safety requirements. Work effectively as part of a team promoting the company’s vision, values, and aspirations at all times. Ensure that orders are both loaded and off loaded accurately and in accordance with accompanying documentation. Ensure all relevant documentation with regard to the sale and delivery of materials is completed accurately, timely and in line with company policy. Ensure at all times that products are handled in a safe manner and properly secured whilst in transit in line with company health and safety policy. Ensure the vehicle is driven in an appropriate and courteous manner and in line with legislation, health and safety and company policy. Ensure the vehicle is roadworthy by conducting daily routine checks in line with company policy and report any defects immediately to a line/branch manager/Transport coordinator using prescribed reporting systems. Ensure when operating a crane, forklift, and other plant that it is operated in line with legislation, health and safety and company policy. Ensure that tachograph and other essential driving documents are completed in a timely and efficient manner. Take a pro-active approach in ensuring the health and safety of staff and customers, reporting, and responding to any potential H & S concerns/issues. Optimise all duties and activities to enhance branch profit. Actively safeguard against theft of company goods or property by being security conscious at all times. Perform any other reasonable duty as may be required by the company.
