Kushti Bok is a fast-growing charity who support Romany Gypsies and the Travelling communities, in the Dorset and BCP council areas (sometimes beyond). It also acts collaboratively with other well-known charities in the UK who support these communities. We work with many other GRT organizations such as The Traveller Movement, Friends Families and Travellers, Gate Hertfordshire, Derbyshire GLG, Friendly Churches, Traveller Space and Travelling Ahead, to name just a few. Our latest very successful partnership is with Citizen's advice. For many years we have benefitted from the time and support of Volunteers, members and our Board of Trustees. Now thanks to our involvement of multiple projects our Charity has grown and we have now become an employer. Once we have found our Coordinator-manager we will be looking to recruit further part time staff .
We are looking for someone proactive, passionate and dedicated to contributing to support the Settled (on sites or in housing) and “On the Road” Gypsy, Roma and Travelling communities, someone to work 15hours per week to ensure that Kushti Bok operates effectively and efficiently as both a provider of services and an employee. This could be over two or three days to suit, both employer and employee.

PART TIME CO ORDINATOR-MANAGER
Kushti bok is a well-established community members’ organization for Romany Gypsies and Travellers living in Dorset. As we transition from a volunteer group, we are seeking an exceptional candidate to help Kushti bok to flourish and grow.
Our new Coordinator/Office manager will work with our Board of Trustees as we support our Chair to step back from operational delivery. The successful applicant will help build a team and organizational structure to take Kushti bok forward delivering sustainability and impact.
It is essential that our Coordinator can run our day-to-day operations whilst maintaining commitment to our strategic mission, foregrounding and enhancing the lived experiences of our members, and driving effective fundraising, co-production and collaboration.
Willing to be Office Based at our Ferndown office two or three days per week, with the flexibility to be able to drive to meetings in Dorset and BCP Council areas, some remote working may be possible. A free parking space is available at our office.
STRATEGIC RESPONSIBILITIES
· Working with the Board to articulate a clear and compelling vision for Kushti bok with realistic and measurable goals and member buy-in.
· Activating resources to efficiently progress our strategy and business plan.
· Communicating effectively with the Chair and Board of Trustees;
· Maintaining and developing effective partnerships and collaboration with civil society organisations, the NHS, Public Health, the Police, local authorities and community partners to deliver our strategy.
· Overseeing the development and optimization of resources and infrastructure, including funding, tech, facilities and human resources, to sustain Kushti bok.
· Developing and executing a comprehensive fundraising strategy that ensures Kushti bok is viable; building and nurturing strong relationships with existing and prospective funders.
· Delivering robust financial management, governance and accountability to ensure long-term efficiency and compliance.
· Working with the Board of Trustees to mitigate organisational risks and enable decisions that secure, promote and develop the Charity’s profile and reputation.
· Fundraising for and developing a staff and volunteer team with good working conditions, supportive management, and regular performance appraisal.
· Building capacity of volunteers and staff to develop operational and leadership skills needed to sustain Kushti bok.
· Ensuring effective monitoring and impact evaluation, and feedback loops, to inform strategic and operational decisions and adjustments.
· Ensuring daily activities align with the organisation's strategic plan and partnership commitments.
· Writing high quality reports for different audiences that are comprehensive, transparent, and well structured to effectively communicate outcomes.
Person specification
This coordinator role requires strategic leadership and operational can-do as we develop and transition to a fully staffed organisation.
· Knowledge about charity governance; accountability and attention to detail, would be desirable.
· Knowledge of the Romany people and the different Travelling Communities, would also be desirable.
Essential Knowledge and Skills:
· Committed and skillful in community engagement and co-production.
· Ability to co-create and deliver effective strategic business and project plans.
· Excellent budgeting, financial management and project management skills.
· Detailed knowledge of fundraising and funding cycles.
· Excellent spoken and written (including online) communication skills.
· Excellent ‘people’ management knowledge and skill.
· IT skills sufficient to fulfil the duties of the role and also able to support others with basic Microsoft and google applications.
· Committed to and knowledgeable about safeguarding best practice.
Essential Experience:
· Experience of working with people who experience stigma and exclusion.
· Leadership experience
· Experience of strategic business and project planning, and delivery.
· Excellent track record of organisational and people management (including volunteers)
· Experience of successful fundraising.
· You will need to be able to travel easily to locations across Dorset.
Terms of Employment
· The interim contract period will be 12 months with an expectation of the role becoming permanent as Kushti Bok grows
· Probationary Period - 6months
· Hours of work will be 15 hours per week, two days per week but could be over 3 days if required.
· Salary is £28K pro rata,
· Annual Holiday – 28 days including statutory holidays (pro rata) therefore 11.2 days
· The charity has a contributory pension scheme with NEST.
· The Coordinator, will report to the Chair and other members of the Board pf Trustees, appointed to provide line-management and support.
· Kushti bok are exploring options and funding for an employee welfare package.
· You will work across Dorset from our office base in Ferndown, Dorset. Occasional national travel to meet with colleagues in the sector will be required.
· Own transport is essential
· Employment with Kushti bok will be subject to the following checks:
· A satisfactory police record check to include an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check
