We are seeking a world-class Lead / Deputy Head Grounds Person to oversee and elevate our clients pitch maintenance and management resources. About the Role: As the Deputy Head Grounds Person, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the stadium pitch to the highest standards. You will lead an in-house team of ground staff and coordinate with seasonal and matchday contractors to ensure the playing surface remains top-notch throughout the year.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Pitch Maintenance: Maintain the stadium pitch for up to 60 matchdays, ensuring it meets elite standards.
2. Team Leadership: Lead and manage ground staff to deliver exceptional pitch quality.
3. General Maintenance: Undertake routine maintenance operations, including using tractors and pedestrian machinery.
4. Pitch Preparation: Set up, prepare, and maintain the pitch, including marking out technical areas and applying fertilizers.
5. Irrigation Management: Oversee irrigation systems to ensure optimal pitch conditions.
6. Equipment Maintenance: Manage and maintain machinery, ensuring all equipment is in top working condition.
7. Administrative Tasks: Track pitch usage, perform tests, and prepare weekly reports on pitch conditions and maintenance schedules.
8. Health and Safety: Ensure all practices meet health and safety requirements and comply with legislation.
9. Event Attendance: Commit to working weekends, evenings, and bank holidays to support the fixture schedule.
Requirements:
10. Proven experience as a Head or Deputy or Senior Grounds Person in a sports environment.
11. NVQ L3 qualification in sports turf, green keeping, or groundsmanship, or equivalent. or at least currently undertaking the qualification and at least halfway through the course
12. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
13. Strong leadership and team management abilities.
14. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Outlook.
15. Clean UK driving license.
16. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
17. High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
18. Flexibility to accommodate varying work hours and fixture schedules.
