Lancashire Highways Service is responsible for the direct delivery of all highways related schemes across the County made up of 4,300 miles of road, 151,000 streetlights and 2,955 bridges.
We have an excellent opportunity for a Technical Support Officer within our Countywide Projects Team, this post will be based at our Cuerden Depot, Preston.
This is a dynamic, innovative team that delivers major projects across the whole of Lancashire. We have demonstrated our capabilities to deliver multi-million-pound highway infrastructure schemes. This success has gained stakeholder confidence which has meant we are now the "Provider of Choice" for Highways Projects in Lancashire. We're delighted that through an increase in funding and projects, we are now able to further invest and expand our team.
This is an important role within the Projects Team. The post holder will undertake all the core administration activities for the whole team and will manage highway enquiries from members of the public and elected members providing technical responses as required demonstrating exceptional customer focus skills. Understanding and operating bespoke software and systems is a key aspect of the role; therefore, proven experience of learning and working with new systems is key. The post holder will also be required to assist with purchase orders, regularly updating live inventories, and assist technicians and engineers with other duties which are deemed appropriate to the post. The post holder will be a highly motivated individual and must have good communication and organisational skills to allow them to flourish within the role. The post holder will need to manage multiple workstreams; therefore, being able to proactively plan activities to ensure works are delivered on time is key.
The post being advertised is permanent subject to a six-month probationary period being successfully completed.
