* To drive LBCamden vehicles to and from sites within and external to the LB ofCamden as required including 1632 & 52 Seater Buses. Tosupport clients with complex needs and disabilities to get to theirschools and day centres. To conduct vehicle maintenance checksmaintain vehicle cleanliness and check all relevant equipmentalongside maintaining and updating data logs as required. Plan andmap out journey routes as scheduled each day. The normal place ofwork on a day to day basis is in predominantly outdoor environmentin vehicles driving around LB Camden.
* Driversare required to have a full driving licence (max 3 points) categoryD (PCV) and will be expected to take Camdens Driving AssessmentChecks (andpass)
* Driversare required to have a Driver Qualification Card (DQC / CPC) andTacho Card this must be madeevidence.
Hold a current clean driver s licence with a minimum ofunrestricted categories D and can drive a range of vehicles.Rehabilitation Of Offenders Act - The jobholder is exempt from theprovisions of the rehabilitation of offenders Act 1974 and isrequired disclose offences accordingly, as well as meet asatisfactory check. Experience in driving passengers carryingvehicles relevant to the role. Experience of and/or the ability towork with clients with varying learning and physical disabilities.Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of requirements forindividuals with special needs and ability to respond appropriately/ accordingly. Knowledge of health and safety issues, relevant towork environment and equipment used, to ensure safety of allindividuals and goods transported. This will include the use ofappropriate kinetic lifting techniques and / or equipment asrequired, dependant on the needs of the individual client. Familiarwith local traffic laws and regulations involved in the operationof fleet vehicles. Have a cleared enhanced Criminal Records BureauxCheck (CRB). Have satisfactory references to cover a period of 5years prior to commencement of employment at Camden for asafeguarding post. The ability to work effectively within a teamand foster good relationships with other staff, contractors andclients of the Council. Ability to demonstrate an empatheticknowledge towards those with special needs and respond in asensitive/caring manner. Ability to understand and applyinformation given by the supervisor, parent / guardian, carer orschool / centre staff on the special needs of the child / client.Demonstrated ability to be solely responsible, or where appropriateshared responsibility for the safety and welfare ofpassengers/loads. Ability to work flexibly as required andundertake a variety of different activities in daily and weeklyfunctions. The competence and capability to assist and manoeuvreservice users for the purposes of transport provision and otherneeds as necessary using appropriate kinetic lifting techniquesand/or equipment. Demonstrated basic written communication skillsto complete necessary documentation e.g. work schedules. Proveninterpersonal and oral communication skills including the abilityto consult with a range of people (e.g. clients, carers, parents,mangers and staff) with particular emphasis in the special need sareas of clients and recognise and respect confidential andsensitive matters. Ability to undertake learning and development inall aspects of staff related matters, service provision, the use ofa range of vehicles relating to the role, fixed and mobile. Abilityto read maps and follow directions.
