Role Information: Our academies provision at Learning Curve Group supports thousands of learners to gain hands-on experience in their chosen profession, whether that be Hair & Beauty, Military, or Construction.
As a Learning Support Advisor at our Cambridge Military Academy, you will assist our learners with additional learning needs. This unique role is part-time on a fixed-term basis. A strong background in supporting young people with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND) is essential.
1. Provide structured support using a range of effective interventions (as per their EHCP Plan) within a class and/or outdoor setting.
2. Aid access to the full range of learning experiences and provide modified materials as required e.g. worksheets, games, visual prompt cards etc.
3. Provide positive reinforcements, praise, and emotional support to learners.
4. Advise and support tutors with necessary adjustments for learners with learning support needs.
5. Ensure Learning Support Plans and contact logs are updated accurately and timely.
6. Work as part of the team to enhance learners' well-being and personal development.
7. Agree on learning support aims and interventions with the learner and set these out in the Learning Support Plan.
8. Provide regular feedback to the SENCO and relevant outside agencies about any pupil’s difficulties and progress.
9. Contribute to the Learners' annual review by writing a brief report and attending the meeting.
10. Foster links with External Agencies and Carers.
11. Facilitate inclusion in small group activities with learners and support interaction between them.
12. Attend in-service training and relevant meetings to keep up to date with developments.
13. Conduct your role in line with the company values and expected behaviours.
14. Comply with the Safeguarding, Prevent and Health and Safety Policies and be vigilant to potential concerns and risks at all times.
15. Ensure confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
16. Provide learners, customers, and colleagues with support and guidance.
Minimum Requirements:
* Minimum of 2 years experience working with Post 16 Learners.
* Knowledge and experience of working with Post 16 learners with Educational Health Care Plans (EHCP).
* GCSE, ‘O’ Level or equivalent qualifications in Maths and English.
* NVQ3 or equivalent as recognized by the National Occupational Standards for Supporting Teaching and Learning.
* Knowledge and understanding of the different social, cultural, and physical needs of Learners.
* Training in aspects of SEN, i.e. ADHD, Dyslexia, Autism, Dyspraxia, SEMH, hypermobility etc.
* Calm and patient attitude.
