As Engineering Technician Apprentice you will be part of a wider multi-disciplinary team with the opportunity to gain practical "hands on" experience of what it takes to support and develop a complete product.
The individual will be expected to support the development team with any tasks as required. Although this is predominantly a support role to the main development team, the individual is also expected to provide feedback and suggestions for improvements as appropriate.
As well as proactively seeking support or clarification if they feel any task is beyond their scope or experience currently. At the outset, the candidate will be assigned a technical mentor who will provide direction and support as well as assessing your progression and providing appropriate feedback.
In addition, the candidate should also actively participate and contribute to all engineering processes (e.g., Agile Development), as well as the use of defined reporting and planning tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence).
Responsibilities
1. Test and repair devices, systems and components by following the defined guidelines and procedures.
2. Assemble mechanical, electrical and electronic components and sub-assemblies to defined engineering drawings.
3. Install, configure and run test programs and software.
4. Complete test documents and reports, as per company standards.
5. When required, assist the development team in testing and fault finding both new and existing products.
6. Order and replace parts as required.
7. Provide suggestions for ways to improve products and equipment.
8. Maintain lab areas to a high standard.
9. Follow all Health and Safety procedures.
Course Information - Level 3 Engineering Technician
• Apprenticeship will be with CECAMM via the Isle of Wight College.
• Full time - 37.5 hours a week - Monday to Friday.
Salary dependant on experience.
Location: Newport, Isle of Wight.
