We have a great opportunity available to join Novus, our prison education provider at HMP Feltham, working as a Catering Teacher. This position is part-time, working 3 days per week for a fixed term duration of 6 months.

HMP Feltham, officially known as HM Prison Feltham, serves as both a Young Offender Institution (YOI) and a juvenile prison. It accommodates males aged 15-21 who have been remanded in custody or sentenced. The prison's mission is to provide a secure, safe, and rehabilitative environment that encourages positive change and prepares inmates for a successful reintegration into society. Feltham is committed to providing a safe and educational environment where young people and adults can learn new skills in custody to help them on release.
What the role entails
As the Catering Teacher at HMP Feltham, you will play a crucial role in helping our learners develop essential skills that will serve them throughout their lives and possible employment opportunities upon release. You will be responsible for effectively managing and assessing learners whilst they work in the HMP Feltham prison kitchen/ staff restaurant. You will be required to work alongside prison-employed staff and fit in with the prison regime. Therefore, the ability to use your initiative, be self-motivated, flexible and work effectively as part a team is essential for this role.

Responsible for the day-to-day management and coordination of learners to achieve their catering qualifications.
Ensure full compliance with food safety, health and safety and protocols e.g. GDPR, enrolment and attendance.
Accountable for quality assurance and quality improvement across the qualification.
Ensure full compliance to prison systems, processes and protocol.

To be successful in the role of Catering Teacher, you will need to:
Have at least 2 years' experience in the relevant vocational area
Be willing to gain PTLLS within 6 months.
Commit to gain a subject specific qualification to allow you to train to Level 3, within 2 years (if applicable)
Commit to gain an assessor award required by relevant Awarding Bodies, within one year (if applicable)
Hold at least a Level 1 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy (GCSE) or be willing to commit to gaining the qualification(s) within 1 year.
Remuneration and Colleague Benefits
Successful candidates will be offered a salary of between £29,047 - £38,124 (*pro rata) per annum, dependent on qualifications and/or level of experience.
