Due to internal promotion we are recruiting for a head of operations at our busy engineering site in Frome, Somerset. Across our three buildings we manufacture gym equipment, taking it from raw steel and transforming it into luxury strength training equipment that is sent to customers all over the world. As head of operations you will be in charge of all three sites, working with your production managers and peers to ensure our customer commitments are meant whilst maintaining our world renowned quality.

Your duties:
* Develop the manufacturing team to have a trained & assessed operator at every job every day, while adopting the 1-3 & 3-1 versatility profile.
* Deliver the production schedule to the required quantities at the right quality standard. Ensuring all job orders are in place to support the schedule.
* Develop/Embrace new operating and measurement procedures that will unlock trapped manufacturing capacity. This will be evidenced through productivity improvements in all production departments.
* Manage poor performance through the HR/disciplinary process.
* Provide a development plan for all manufacturing employees through the appraisal.
* Lead, coach and develop the supervisory and leadership team to demonstrate a consistent, and balanced approach to their teams development.
* Use the Short Interval Control boards as a daily metric (reviewed at the required intervals) to both understand current performance, as well as actioning issues through PCCP containment and countermeasures, adopting the principle that 'No Issue Happens Twice'
* Use an 'our business' approach to cost management under the headings of Consumables usage, Labour requirements (Required on Role) and Overtime costs.
* Uphold the Work Group Brief processes that ensure a consistent communication platform across the production facility.
* Develop/support an autonomous maintenance culture as well as a planned PM schedule for all equipment.
* Lead a continuous improvement culture across all production areas, supporting the generation/creation of new initiatives under the headings of Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and People.
* Be an ambassador for the Watson Brand, flexing your work ethic and behaviours accordingly.
Essential Experience
· Minimum of 3 years of experience in a management role within a Manufacturing environment
· Experience of operating ERP systems, maintaining Bill of Materials, Production routes etc.
· Experience in fostering a collaborative work environment and promoting professional development
· Self-motivated and driven to be personally accountable for delivering effective outcomes and solutions
· Strong leadership and team management skills to motivate and develop staff
· Strong communication, interpersonal and organisational skills
· Practical hands-on approach
· Logical and structured approach to problem solving
Desirable Experience and Skills
· Strong knowledge and practical understanding of IS0 9001
· Experience of lean manufacturing
· Continuous improvement mentality to drive quality improvement throughout the business and promote efficient ways of working
