Role Overview
A fantastic opportunity has become available for a Pharmaceutical Purchasing Specialist to join a global pharmaceutical distribution company based in Bedfordshire.
As the Pharmaceutical Purchasing Specialist, you will be responsible for managing procurement activities, sourcing pharmaceutical products, negotiating contracts with suppliers, and ensuring efficient supply chain operations within the UK. This role involves strategic sourcing, vendor management, and maintaining compliance with industry regulations and quality standards.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Your duties as the Pharmaceutical Purchasing Specialist will include:
1. Developing and implementing procurement strategies for pharmaceutical products in compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
2. Identifying and evaluating potential suppliers, negotiating contracts, and establishing relationships to secure cost-effective and high-quality pharmaceutical supplies. Monitoring and managing supplier performance, resolving issues related to quality, delivery, or pricing discrepancies.
3. Collaborating with internal stakeholders to understand demand forecasts and inventory requirements, ensuring timely procurement to meet business needs. Working closely with logistics, quality control, and finance teams to streamline supply chain processes and minimize disruptions. Conducting market research to analyze pricing trends, supplier performance, and industry developments to optimize purchasing decisions.
4. Maintaining accurate records of procurement activities, contracts, and supplier agreements while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. Staying updated on industry regulations, market dynamics, and best practices to improve procurement processes.
Role Requirements
To be successful in this role, candidates should have:
1. A degree in Supply Chain Management or a related discipline; CIPS certification is advantageous.
2. Proven experience in pharmaceutical procurement or purchasing within the UK market, with strong negotiation, analytical, and vendor management skills.
3. A solid understanding of pharmaceutical industry regulations, procurement practices, and supply chain operations. Proficiency in procurement software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office.
