We are seeking to recruit a Facilities Management Assistant - Portering Service to work within Secure Services, specifically within the High Secure Stores Department that includes the Central Stores, Patients Possessions, Linen Bank, and Food Stores as required. The role involves driving Porters vehicles and collecting and delivering goods as requested, moving them manually or with appropriate vehicles or manual handling equipment and procedures.
The post holder will be expected to contribute to the provision of quality storage for High Secure Services, including maintaining accurate records of the storage, receipt, and distribution of goods for the Secure Division. Duties will include receipting all goods received for the Secure Division and ensuring compliance with security requirements for Secure Division areas including Low, Medium, and High Secure.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Work as a team member, carrying out tasks as allocated and prioritized.
2. Participate in training, including mandatory training as required by Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust.
3. Engage in performance management, maintaining personal responsibility to ensure that all required training is kept up to date.
4. Adhere to and follow Trust and departmental procedures, entering and using data and inputting information into the E-Fin system.
5. Assist the Manager in carrying out tasks assigned to the team or individual and support the minimization of overtime and sickness costs.
6. Be flexible in day-to-day job requirements and responsibilities as directed by management.
7. Act as a team member in all areas of the Stores & Porters facility, subject to training.
8. Carry out assigned tasks while considering the security and health and safety of all parties.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Receipt and distribute all goods received in the Central Stores at Ashworth Hospital.
2. Input receipt data accurately into the purchasing/finance integrated computerized system, Pacis and E-Fin.
3. Report short, damaged, or discrepant deliveries, liaising with the supplier, Purchasing Department, and end user.
4. Complete security checks of all goods delivered to the Secure Area of Ashworth Hospital.
5. Maintain regular contact with the line manager and report any defects to equipment and the environment.
6. Drive a forklift truck (if qualified) and operate mechanical handling equipment as trained.
7. Comply with all security and fire procedures related to the designated workplace.
8. Undertake filing and general administration routines associated with the department.
The majority of work requires physical effort and Manual Handling Training is provided. Post holders may use various machines and physical aids in their tasks, and will have to take on training and demonstrate compliance.
