Information for the role of Teaching Assistant £12.03 per hour plus holiday pay up to 48 hours per week About Downing International Programme Downing College International Programme was originally established in 1998 and offered only for our University Partner’s overseas. With the initiative of expanding the programme offering to International Students aged 16 -18, Downing College International Programme became one of the College Endorsed Summer Programmes within the Cambridge University academic vicinity. Split into 3 main sub programmes; Pre-Sessional International Programme (16-18), International Programme (16-18), AND Undergraduate Programme (18), held at Downing College, Cambridge. During the Programme, students will experience a variety of academic stimuli such as lectures, workshops and visits to subject-related laboratories, accompanied by a very Cambridge and British social programme such as Formal Dinner, Punting, History and political tour in London. With cross-disciplinary learning and empowerment as the core of the Downing College International Programmes, we are driven to make sure that the students have the best experience that can be offered. The programmes will run on the following dates; 15-18 years Programme A – 13- July 26 July B – 27 July – 9 August C – 10 August – 23 August 18 Programme 9 August – 6 September Details of the role A Downing College International Programmes Teaching Assistant is one of a key roles in delivering a high-quality programme. Combining academic support and pastoral care as a comprehensive approach, sets Downing College International Programmes as a pioneer in its own right. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about sharing their academic knowledge and are equally equipped with outgoing and friendly personalities, capable of handling pastoral responsibilities, and comfortable managing a small group of international students. You will live onsite at Downing College accommodation and be responsible for creating a welcoming environment. You will also be the first point of contact for the students' pastoral care, supported by the Programme Manager and the wider Downing College Team. Working a maximum of 48 hours per week, you will be required to work Monday to Sunday, including days and evenings. You will have one day offer per week and will receive a rota and this will vary each week. There is mandatory training that is required for the role, therefore you will need to be available for training dates from Wednesday 9 July.
