Your role and responsibilities
* You'll be case responsible for Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children (UASC) from point of entry into Suffolk until their transition into adulthood as a care leaver.
* Expected to work with our Senior Social Worker and Consultant Social Worker in addressing concerns and new trends within our cohort of clients to ensure the needs of our UASC are being met.
* Supporting UASC through their Asylum process alongside adhering to statutory duties regarding their health, education, and housing.
You will be:
* Assessing the needs and risks associated with UASC whilst supporting them with their asylum application.
* Identifying the placement needs of UASC.
* Assuming case responsibility for UASC, ensuring that services are provided or arranged proportionate to their needs including for clients placed out of county.
You will need:
* A social work qualification.
* Social Work England Registration.
* Excellent communication skills with a commitment to listening to teenagers around challenging topics such as family loss, mental health difficulties, substance misuse, and criminality.
* A thorough understanding of safeguarding concerns and specific risks associated with UASC.
* Good organisation skills and competency with computer systems; paperwork and case recordings.

We are a team with a specialism in Immigration matters. Our mission is to help vulnerable people overcome adversity and trauma. We also facilitate our client's asylum applications in hope of gaining their legal status to remain in the UK.
Everyone in the team is passionate and driven to help young people rebuild their lives after experiencing atrocities abroad. Our clients arrive here unaccompanied and often without the ability to speak English. This makes them particularly vulnerable to exploitation and discrimination.
