An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated clinical pharmacist to join our friendly, developing and ambitious cardiology team at Royal Brompton Hospital. You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team providing treatment and long-term follow up for cardiology patients including those with congenital heart disease and pulmonary hypertension. You will work closely with the senior cardiology pharmacists to deliver and develop clinical pharmacy services, support the development of guidelines and protocols and assist in education and training for band 6 pharmacists, trainee pharmacists and medicines management technicians.
This post requires you to have a broad post registration hospital pharmacy experience which must include experience in delivering clinical pharmacy services to medical (including cardiology) patients. You will need to have completed at least the Certificate stage of your Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy.
Main duties of the job
1. To provide a safe, efficient and high-quality clinical pharmacy service to cardiology patients including those with congenital heart disease and pulmonary hypertension.
2. To work closely with the Senior Cardiology Pharmacists on the development of policies, guidelines and protocols.
3. To execute effective monitoring of the use of medication, adjusting dosages and route of administration through timely intervention and communication with medical, nursing and other healthcare professionals.
4. To deliver a safe, efficient and cost-effective use of medicines within Cardiology, by the provision of education and training, procedures, protocols, and medicines usage information.
5. To deliver comprehensive pharmaceutical care to cardiology patients through clinical pharmacy services and attend appropriate MDTs, ward rounds and meetings.
6. To assist in implementing agreed clinical governance initiatives.
7. To support a seven day a week clinical service to the Cardiology service, including Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays. To participate in emergency on-call duties in the provision of cover for 'out of hours' Pharmacy services.
