Nexos have a contract opportunity for a Principal Piping Engineer, based in Aberdeen.
You’ll be accountable for executing piping engineering activities, ensuring technical quality is maintained within budget and schedule. This role requires a strong leader who can oversee engineering processes, manage personnel, and drive continuous improvement in working practices and team efficiency.
The successful candidate will provide discipline-specific input into tenders and proposals while supervising and allocating workloads to plant layout and piping engineering personnel. Ensuring compliance with project budgets and schedules is a key aspect of the role, along with maintaining project plans, tracking progress, and managing cost control for assigned scopes. The role involves overseeing scope and schedule changes in accordance with project change control processes, collaborating with Planning, Project Engineering, and Project Control functions to ensure smooth execution.
Maintaining compliance with industry standards, regulations, and procedures is essential, as is liaising with customer focal points and attending key project meetings. The role requires expertise in preparing and approving estimates and schedules, ensuring seamless electronic submission via the company’s digital eco-system. Effective communication with clients, project management, and interdisciplinary teams is critical, along with reviewing, checking, and approving plant layout and piping engineering work output, including remote work verification and e-checking.
The role also involves piping approval, document filing, and maintaining records in electronic formats. The successful candidate will conduct and support the competency assessment of piping engineering personnel while fostering their professional development. A key responsibility is to implement and maintain engineering processes and procedures, ensuring best practices are followed. Regular contact with the Engineering Manager and Lead Engineer is required to highlight issues, concerns, or areas for improvement. Additionally, the candidate may act as the discipline focal point or Lead Engineer as needed.
Skills & Qualifications:
* Essential:
* Demonstrable experience in the Oil & Gas industry.
* UK bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in appropriate engineering subject (piping/mechanical).
* Chartered Engineer and member of appropriate engineering Institute.
* Sound technical background and expertise.
* Experienced in selection and use of, applicable codes, practices, standards and statutory documentation.
* Competent in the direction and organisation of discipline team within project environment (Small/Medium Sized).
* Competent in commercial, contractual, and administrative aspects of Engineering.
* Experienced in aspects of discipline design (including multi-discipline) and use of analytical methods including theoretic background.
