Job summary
We are looking for an exceptional senior online communications specialist to join our team, to manage our internal and external online communications channels, and work with the wider communications and engagement team on the production of audio/visual communications materials and assets.
The successful candidate will provide online communications advice and support to all staff members and stakeholders. They will also be responsible for producing and managing digital content across multiple channels, matching channels, styles and messages to audiences as appropriate, internally and externally.
Main duties of the job
Key responsibilities of the role include:
1. Supporting with the development and delivery of a digital communications strategy, focusing on improved use of digital content to engage with a wider range of people.
2. Providing teams and services with professional online communications advice and support, developing and delivering online communications plans for individual initiatives or projects of work, as required.
3. Development and maintenance of the Trust's website and intranet site; ensuring content is up to date, engaging, dynamic and responsive to audience needs; search engine optimisation; and ensuring accessibility standards are met. This includes the provision of support and training for web editors.
4. Supporting and developing a range of digital communications including writing, editing and distributing/uploading intranet content, web content, and materials for projects and corporate activities.
5. Identifying and using suitable website metrics and other analysis tools to measure online activity. This will include producing reports to evaluate the effectiveness of digital activity and usage.
6. Taking a proactive role in finding new ways to reach different audiences and, working with other team members, to communicate effectively to staff and other stakeholders.

Qualifications Essential
* Educated to degree level, or equivalent experience gained through employment and/or training.
* Strong evidence of ongoing professional development.
Experience Essential
* Advanced understanding, and specialist knowledge, of user-centred content design and management and be able to lead teams to ensure quality outcomes.
* Highly developed understanding, and specialist knowledge, of content design and management and be able to lead teams to make sure a consistency of message and deliver content across multiple platforms, understanding how to ensure content meets user needs as well as clinical and policy standards.
* Highly developed knowledge of all the content disciplines (social media, multimedia, content design); an understanding of how these disciplines dovetail with each other and ability to provide guidance to colleagues around the organisation on the importance of user experience.
* Highly developed theoretical knowledge and practical experience of search engine optimisation (SEO) and how it can be used to maximise reach of relevant content; supervisory role in coaching colleagues on the most effective way to create optimised content.
* Highly developed knowledge of content performance metrics and evaluation techniques.
* Highly developed knowledge of various evidence-based research techniques and their role in assessing accurate content.

* Excellent written, verbal and communication skills. Ability to proofread, edit and design content.
* Experience in leading and overseeing content production.
* Be responsible for content quality and editorial processes, responding to programme priorities, multiple deadlines, changing product requirements and budgetary constraints.
* Able to use sound judgement, policies, evidence and knowledge to make content decisions and recommendations.
* Ability to lead and oversee the creation/publication of content and advise on complex issues (including policy and safeguarding).
* Able to demonstrate expertise and reputation as a subject matter expert.
