If you are an experienced Band 5 Nurse, who is motivated and enthusiastic, then come and join our friendly team of Nurses and become part of the Kent Kidney Care Centre based at the QEQM. If you are looking to expand your skills and learn how to deliver haemodialysis to both inpatients and outpatients, then this is the role for you.
We are looking for someone who is kind and caring and who wants to be part of a team who advocate and make evidence-based decisions for patients in a nurse led unit.
It would be an asset to have Renal experience, but this is not essential as training will be given.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for an individual who is eager to learn, has a kind and caring attitude towards patients and colleagues and can be a positive team member. Within this role, you will be looking after patients who have a chronic condition who attend the unit three times a week.
We will provide the in-house training you require to safely carry out your role in dialysis which includes specific dialysis training and further development opportunities within your role.
The main duties of this role include providing haemodialysis care to renal patients on a daily basis including fluid management, recording observations, daily weights, intravenous medication, pressure sore prevention, vascular access care, and diabetes management.
After training, you will be expected to connect & disconnect patients from dialysis, using their vascular access; this could be via a central venous catheter, a fistula, or a graft. You will be responsible for the care you provide to the patients and accountable to the senior team.
We also work closely with the multidisciplinary team, this includes Dieticians, Access team, AKC nurses, Counsellors, Renal Care Navigator, Renal Registrars, Renal Consultants, and Transplant nurses.
