GSL Education are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Disability Support Worker to join a welcoming and inclusive educational setting in Poole. This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of individuals with disabilities, providing essential support to help them achieve their full potential in both educational and social settings.
Role Overview:
As a Disability Support Worker, you will work closely with students requiring additional assistance due to physical, sensory, or learning disabilities. Your role will be to support their educational journey, helping them overcome challenges, develop independence, and participate fully in school life.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide one-to-one and small-group support to students with disabilities.
* Assist in the classroom, ensuring students remain engaged and comfortable in their learning environment.
* Implement tailored support strategies to meet the individual needs of each student.
* Help students with mobility, communication, and daily tasks as required.
* Foster a safe, inclusive, and encouraging environment to promote self-confidence and well-being.
* Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to deliver personalised learning plans.
* Support students during break times, extracurricular activities, and educational outings.
* Maintain accurate records of progress and report concerns when necessary.
Ideal Candidate:
We are looking for someone who is passionate about supporting individuals with disabilities and is committed to making a meaningful impact. The ideal candidate will have:
* Previous experience in disability support, SEN education, social care, or a related field.
* A strong understanding of physical, learning, and sensory disabilities, along with strategies to support individuals effectively.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
* Patience, empathy, and a proactive attitude towards supporting individual needs.
* Relevant qualifications in Health & Social Care, Education, or SEN Support (desirable but not essential).
* A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students.

* Have the right to work in the UK.
* Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.
* Have an Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service or be willing to apply for one with GSL Education.
