The followingare the core responsibilities of a Practice Nurse. There may be occasions when there is arequirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent on factors such asworkload, staffing levels and direction of the Clinical Team or Manager.
Independentlyassess, diagnose, treat, refer, signpost and discharge patients and serviceusers
Provideroutine care to patients, as required, in accordance with clinical basedevidence and NICE guidelines
Ensure clinical treatment is safe, effective and conductedwithin the boundaries of competence, and to acknowledge limitations
Ensurepersonal and professional clinical standards are maintained
Participatein vaccination programmes, vaccinating patients in the Practice, and/or on homevisits
Work within Practice policies and procedures
Achieve and demonstrate agreed standards of personal andprofessional development, in order to meet the needs of the service
Contribute positively to the effectiveness and efficiency of theteam, and work colleagues
Undertake the collection of pathology specimens, including bloodsamples, swabs, etc.
Support the clinical team with safeguarding matters, inaccordance with local and national policies
Work within Practice policies relating to domestic violence,vulnerable adults, substance abuse and addictive behaviour, and refer asappropriate

Leatside Health is a 16800 patient practice in the Cornish mining town of Redruth. We are looking for an enthusiastic practice nurse to join our team to provide care for our patients.
We aim to provide the best care for our patients aiming to support them with their long term conditions and treatment room care.
We are quite a large practice with 6 partners, 5 Salaried GPs and a nursing team of 12 including a Cardiac Specialist Nurse, Diabetic Specialist Nurse, 4 Long Term Condition Nurses, Family Planning Nurse 2 Health Care Assistance and 2 Phlebotomists.

Participatein administrative and professional responsibilities of the Practice team
Ensureaccurate and legible notes, of all consultations and treatment, are recorded inthe patients notes
Ensurethe clinical system is kept up to date with accurate coding
Ensurethe appropriate items of service claims are made accurately, reporting issuesto the relevant person
EnsureCollect and maintain statistical information, required for regular and ad hocreports and audits
Attendand participate in Practice meetings, as required

Thepost-holder will participate in any training programme implemented by thePractice as part of this employment, to include:
Participation in an annual individual performance review, including taking responsibility for maintaining a record of own personal and/or professional development
Taking responsibility for own professional development, learning and performance, by attendance of courses and study days, to ensure registration requirements are met
