You will join a team of 30 specialist Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeons delivering a high-quality service to the local and regional population. You will consolidate the range of specialist trauma expertise available in our Major Trauma Centre (MTC), allowing for timely access to surgery for all patients. You will contribute to the on-call rota and to the trauma ward round consultant rota, allowing us to deliver a high-quality, responsive service. You will contribute to the development of a modern and dynamic outpatient service, using virtual and tele consultations, where appropriate.
You will deliver continuous service improvement to their clinical subspecialties, ensuring that UHS is at the forefront of clinical techniques and service delivery modalities. They will be important for the continued improved educational opportunities in this department, including at registrar and at foundation year levels.
You will require aptitude and ability to lead a tertiary level foot and ankle service. Experience in ankle arthroplasty, complex hindfoot reconstruction and complex trauma will be expected besides the routine foot & ankle pathology including diabetic foot management and polytrauma. There will be opportunity to develop links with Southampton University and contribute to research and reputation in the department, helping develop a world class service.

• Maintenance of the highest clinical standards in the management of trauma and elective patients
• To share the responsibility for the day-to-day management of the trauma patients
• Out-of-hours responsibilities, including participation in Consultant on-call rota
• Cover for colleagues’ annual leave and other authorised absences
• Any responsibility that relates to delivery of a special interest
• To actively develop the clinical specialty and ensure that new techniques are delivered in timely way

The successful candidate will be employed under the terms and conditions of service for Specialist Doctors – England (2021) Salary will be assessed in line with terms and conditions.
Travelling expenses will not be paid for attending interview.
