Community Accountant / Finance Officer

Minimum of 22.5, maximum of 37 hours per week (to be determined at interview stage)
£26,546 to £28,582 per annum (full-time equivalent), pay review (increase) pending
Our client is the lead body for supporting, developing and promoting the voluntary and community sector (VCS) in the Rotherham Borough. Their role is to facilitate effective action to bring about positive change in the lives of individuals and communities in the local area.
They are now looking to recruit a community accountant / finance officer to support and grow their current service in supporting organisations with accounts preparation, independent examinations and expert advice, all with the intention of delivering the strongest possible impact for the communities they support and serve.
The role will work to build upon an already successful and vital service. You will be working within a wider team, working directly with the clients and will be expected to deliver a great professional service. Their client base is broad and wide ranging, making their work interesting and different on a daily basis.
This role will support and strengthen financial management and practice in voluntary and community organisations through the development and delivery of high-quality community accountancy services.
The successful candidate will have:
1. Experience of accounts preparation (accruals and receipts and payments) and book-keeping.
2. Knowledge and understanding of computer-based accounting systems (e.g. QuickBooks, Sage, Xero), SORP and Charity/Company law.
3. Good experience of using Microsoft excel.
4. Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to disseminate information in a clear way to non-financial stakeholders.
As well as having the ability to influence through a positive and respectful approach, the successful candidate must have the ability to establish personal credibility with a range of stakeholders, both internally and externally. Experience of working within the Charitable or Third Sector would be advantageous but is not essential.
Our client is flexible in their approach to the working hours for this post and are happy to accept applications from individuals wishing to work anywhere between 22.5 and 37 hours per week.
The role may require attendance at meetings outside of normal working hours, therefore, the successful candidate must be willing to work flexible hours when required to meet work demands.
