Learning and Community Engagement Trainee post
The post holder will support our Learning and Community Engagement (Lace) team in all aspects of the development and day to day delivery of our schools and community programmes, reporting to the Senior Learning and Community Engagement Officer (Senior Lace Officer).
The purpose of this trainee post is to provide you with general experience of working in a heritage learning and engagement team and to give you the employability skills to move on to a role in a similar field. The Lace team is keen to enable the post holder opportunity to use the resources of the post and available networks to develop their professional skills and knowledge. The post holder should be proactive in taking opportunities to develop their skills and knowledge and in asking the Senior Lace Officer for support in pursuing these.
As part of the Learning and Community Engagement team the post holder will be involved in the strategic development of the service and its contribution to the strategic goals of Heritage and Culture Warwickshire. As a small core team, the Lace trainee will have the opportunity to be involved in all parts of Lace.
In the three years of this post Lace will be focusing on community engagement projects across Warwickshire. We will be working with colleagues within Heritage and Culture Warwickshire as well as external partners. The team will also be further developing its offer to schools under the branding Warwickshire Heritage Learning. We are looking for a candidate who can work as part of the Lace team to experiment and develop new ideas, bringing their new ideas to the team. Willingness to engage and work with communities across Warwickshire is also key to the role for the next three years.

About the Learning and Community Engagement team
The Learning and Community Engagement team consists of the Senior Lace Officer, a Lace Officer, the Volunteer Coordinator, Exhibitions and Engagement Officer, who are the core team, and several teams of staff who deliver our activity programmes. We deliver workshops for schools at HCW sites and in schools, an events and activities programme for families and adult audiences at the Market Hall Museum and the County Record Office, we run regular groups that meet at the Market Hall museum such as Arty Tots, support the Development Team with income generation and support the team of volunteers that work with different services in HCW.
The Lace team works closely with other teams in HCW to support exhibition and project development and delivery. Members of the Lace team will write and contribute to the writing of funding grants across HCW and the evaluation reports for projects. They sit on project groups to ensure the delivery of projects, working with colleagues across HCW and external partners.
The Lace Trainee will work closely with these teams, ensuring they have the resources to deliver the programme of events and activity.
The Lace team has a responsibility to income generate part of its annual operating budget and runs a range of events that engage audiences with local heritage as well as contributing to this responsibility. The Lace team also works with the Development Team to develop new income generation activities. We are looking for someone who can contribute to the creation of new ideas and will assist in the delivery and evaluation of new events.

Interviews will be on Monday 24th March 2025, at St Johns House, St Johns, Warwick, CV34 4NF. The morning will consist of group activities. There will be individual interviews in the afternoon. You will need to be available for the whole day.
