We have an exciting opportunity for a hardworking and passionate individual to lead our new contextual safeguarding home as the Registered Manager, on a full-time permanent basis.
Location of the post: Hinkley, Leicestershire.
Service Overview: Barnardo's, the UK's largest Children's Charity are currently on an exciting and innovative Journey alongside Leicestershire County Council to deliver a range of Children's homes for the most vulnerable children & young people in Leicestershire.
Although a specific home will be your base location, you must be flexible to travel throughout the locality to support other homes should the need arise. Our homes are located in Hinckley, Coalville and Syston.
Hopes Place, our beautiful new home in Hinckley will support children & young people between 8-18 years facing risks around exploitation, by identifying and responding to harm and abuse posed to them outside of their home environment and understanding the importance of intervention. The service will provide up to 3 service users at any one-time opportunities to enjoy different experiences, establish friendships and develop confidence, independence and social/emotional skills.
Some of the responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:
* Managing a team of Residential workers and coordinating staffing rotas.
* Working together with the Local Authority to ensure effective matching and placement of young people.
* To create a culture and ethos where the complex needs of the individual young people and the group are met.
* Quality assure transition plans and to ensure that these are aspirational in terms of supporting the children to achieve.
* To ensure that the physical environment of the home always remains at a high standard.
* Hold team meetings in order to share information, practice development and share any arising issues with the management team for resolution.
* Attend a variety of formal meetings in order to represent the Service and/or on behalf of the Children's Services Manager.
* Contribute to service development.
* This role includes an expectation of on call, rota cover and out of hours working.
* Part of the role will be assist with the mobilisation of the home.
Essential requirements to evidence in your written application:
* Must hold a valid UK drivers' licence.
* Must hold a Level 3 qualification relevant to Residential Childcare.
* Must hold OR be willing to work towards the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health & Social Care and Children & Young People's services.
* At least 3 years' experience working with children (within the last 5 years) and at least 1 year at Senior level supervision or management experience working with children/young people in a residential setting.
* Sound knowledge and experience of working with OFSTED Regulations and Quality Standards of Children's homes with the ability to support the service to achieve a rating of outstanding.
* Sound knowledge and experience of recording and reporting to enable safeguarding and protection of children & young people.
