Alfa Laval UK and Ireland are currently recruiting for a Field Service Commissioning Engineer with a good level of both electrical and mechanical skills. The focus will be on Decanters as well as other core equipment in the Alfa Laval product range.
About the Job
We’re a long established, world leading company with even bigger ambitions. Our team of Field Service Engineers are on the front line of customer support, carrying out servicing, maintenance, and commissioning of Alfa Laval equipment and associated products. The Field Service Engineers must ensure a high quality service to customers at all times.
You will be home based attending customer sites across the UK and Ireland as required. Overnight stays are a regular occurrence as part of this role and some of our activities may require you to work offshore. You will also be expected to participate in our 24-hour call out system and work some weekends.
Your duties will include:
* Commissioning, servicing and fault finding of new and existing equipment.
* Performing I/O tests on control equipment.
* Performing electrical and mechanical fault finding on our equipment.
* Performing trial test runs when work is completed to ensure performance rates and quality meet established specifications.
* Documenting the equipment serviced, parts used and travel/site hours to support customer invoicing.
* Performing preventive mechanical maintenance service calls on customer equipment.
* Assist and train customer maintenance and supervisory personnel on how to operate our equipment and perform maintenance tasks.
* Providing process and technical support to the department and customers.
* Working with the sales team on equipment audits on customer sites to generate new business.
* Meeting KPIs for the service team in areas such as submission of job reports and timesheets.
About You
Candidates for this role should have completed a recognised apprenticeship, or have reached a minimum level of technical training i.e. City and Guilds/NVQ/BTEC/Degree. You must be able to demonstrate a strong working background in mechanical and electrical maintenance, ideally with separation equipment would be beneficial but not essential.
You should have a high level of competence with respect to electronic equipment testing, fault finding, exposure to SCADA, PLCs, and an ability to read schematic diagrams is essential.
Desirable skills include: experience working on automated production lines, generators, compressors, and pumps. Exposure to Alfa Laval core equipment would be advantageous.
Previous industry backgrounds could include waste water, food and brewery, food processing plants, power stations, factory automation, marine or military.
You will be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and numerate. You must be able to demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills, good organisation and planning, and enjoy working alone.
Candidates must be able to spend several nights away from home as required. Due to the nature of the work, including the environment in which the work is often carried out, the candidate should have a good level of physical fitness. A full driving licence is also essential.
The base area for the role is UK mainland with a willingness to travel across the UK as required. The successful candidate will be based in the central belt of England.
