The Opportunity:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Brake Dyno Technician to join a highly regarded NVH (Noise, Vibration & Harshness) Laboratory Operations team. This role is central to the development and testing of vehicle components that meet high standards of refinement, quality, and performance.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the setup, operation, and de-preparation of tests within the brake dynamometer environment, ensuring readiness for test data acquisition. The role supports a wide scope of NVH and emissions test activities across component and system levels.
What You'll Be Doing:
Participate in scheduling meetings and review test plans
Prepare fixtures, vehicle parts, and instrumentation for brake dyno tests
Install and record instrumentation positioning
Set up specialised test assemblies and equipment
Operate computer-controlled brake dynamometers for setup tasks (e.g. brake bleeding)
Perform inspections and measurements on brake components
Conduct preventative maintenance and support facility housekeeping
Maintain inventory of consumables and storage organisation
Collaborate closely with engineers and technicians on test activities
Support the training of apprentices where applicable
Follow all safety procedures and operational guidelines

What Youll Need to Succeed
Essential:
NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline
Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical vehicle systems
Computer literacy and familiarity with technical processes
Ability to work independently and maintain high standards
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Awareness of Health & Safety standards, including Risk Assessment and COSHH
Desirable:
Experience with test rigs or brake dynamometer environments
Knowledge of prototype vehicles and chassis systems
Familiarity with emissions testing and specialist instrumentation
