Main duties of the job
The post is based on our Acute Medical Units and offers excellent experience in all aspects of acute medicine including Same Day Emergency Care. We see a wide range of conditions offering great exposure to Cardiology, Renal Medicine, Diabetes & Endocrinology, Respiratory Medicine, Neurology, Gastroenterology, Care of the Elderly and Stroke, with excellent in-reach from the aforementioned specialties.

Job responsibilities
The post will also include full on calls on the medical SpR rota.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Full General Medical Council registration.
* MRCP (or equivalent)
* ALS or Equivalent
* Point of care ultrasound
* Peer reviewed publications
Experience
* Proven procedural competence in line with IMT3 curriculum.
* Experience in independently managing medical admissions - i.e. running the acute unselected take.
* Ability to work closely with colleagues in Acute Medicine and Emergency Medicine and other specialties.
* Experience of MDT working including complex discharge planning.
* Independent in the following procedures: Lumbar Puncture, Seldinger Chest Drains and Ascitic Drains.
* Experience of working in Same Day Emergency Care.
* Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
Essential Management & Administrative skills:
* Familiar with clinical governance.
* A willingness to accept responsibility and provide leadership.
* Experience of clinical governance, e.g., Quality improvement, Audit, Morbidity and Mortality review.
* Experience of service development.
* Awareness of current relevant developments within the wider NHS.
