Job Description: Automotive Staff (S4) Field Applications Engineer Reports To: FAE Technical Leader Automotive EMEA as part of EMEA Sales Team Direct Reports: None Location: UK Role Definition We are looking for an enthusiast and dynamic Automotive Field Applications Engineer (FAE) to support our Strategic & Key Accounts in EMEA. As a Field Applications Engineer, you are the bridge between product development groups and top automotive customers in EMEA. Your primary goal is winning new business though proactive in-depth design and development support that will solve customer challenges. This requires a profound knowledge of the customer development process: you need to be familiar with all the aspects of the product lifecycle, from development to mass production. In this role you would be responsible for actively driving and managing the technology proposal and evaluation stage (e.g. early engagement) with the engineering teams working in conjunction with the account teams as the key technical advisor and system advocate for a wide range of commercial and passenger vehicle applications. The Automotive FAE must be able to identify customer platform requirements (hardware and software) and work closely internally with Analog Devices Business Units and Systems Engineering. You will take ownership for driving the resolution of all technical issues to ensure complete customer satisfaction through all stages of the design in sales process. The Automotive FAE must be able to build trust, establish and maintain strong relationships with Tier 1 customers as well as ADI internal automotive Business Units. You would need to invest in your product and system level knowledge on an ongoing basis through the various training and development opportunities. Your tasks Help the customer to solve complex problems integrating Analog Devices solutions into customer systems Establishing and maintaining customer relationships, organize on-site visits to provide customer service and sales support Respond to functional and technical elements of RFIs/RFQs Understanding the customer hardware and software requirements and developing hardware and software solutions leveraging our vast portfolio Perform customer’s schematic and layout review in collaboration with the Business Units Prepare Proof of Concept demos demonstrating to the customer the value added by ADI’s chipsets Generate high-quality documentation such as technical presentation, application notes and meeting notes Requirements Develop and maintain expert knowledge level for wide range of vehicle systems and sub system applications across multiple Tier 1s. Listen, understand and convey customer requirements with a strong focus on both HW and SW identifying customer's needs and translating them into specifications and/or design ideas for our automotive BUs. Travel to customer sites supporting deep technical Automotive technology discussions to resolve customer issues or difficulties in a manner that is aligned with the ADI automotive strategy Maintain professional business relationships with experts at several OEM and Tier 1 customers in close cooperation with Global and Key Account Managers Qualifications and Skills required BSc/BEng/MSc in Electrical/Electronic Engineering Work experience >10 years in engineering with semiconductor and/or automotive industries Good knowledge of analog and digital electronic design Good understanding of software design and its application with electronic embedded systems Good knowledge of embedded systems and processor architectures Good understanding or power architectures and power electronic design experience Good understanding of common digital interfaces as well as Analog principles like ADC/ DACs Excellent problem-solving skills Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills as need to collaborate with global teams Available for travel 50% of working time Driving license required Languages: English (min.
