The post holder must work as part of a team, can organise and prioritise their own work load on a day-to-day basis, and always observe strict riles about confidentiality. Clinically they must also know their limits of their own capabilities and seek direction from a Pratcie Nurse or Managing Partner. Working under the supervision of practice nursing team and strictly in accordance with specific practice or national guidelines and protocols, the Phlebotomist will be responsible for performing venepuncture to obtain blood samples from patients only as the result of a direct referral form a GP, Nurse Practitioner, or annual recall. Main Job Duties To collect samples from patients through venepuncture as requested by clinicians and other appropriately authorised doctors and health professionals. To collect blood samples safely with due respect to the dignity of patients, and the needs of other clinical services. To ensure blood samples are collected in appropriate containers, labelled correctly, and prepared and dispatched to relevant laboratory sections in a timely and correct manner To contribute to provisions of an effective, high-quality service and ensure that proficiency and competence, personal and professional standards of that group are maintained Undertake administrative duties as required of the position Undertake ECG's and urinalysis when requested by by clinicians and other appropriately authorised doctors and health professionals. Participate in practice learning events and clinical meetings Duties may be varied from time to time under the direction of the Managing Partner and Practice Manager dependent on current and evolving practice workload and staffing levels.
