SAIF Systems offers a competitive compensation package and the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies that shape the future of AI and robotics safety.
Responsibilities
1. Conduct safety analyses, such as Hazard and Operability Studies (HAZOPs), Functional Failure Analysis (FFA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), and Failure Mode, Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) in accordance with Def Stan 00-056 for SAIF Systems' SAIF Autonomy product and its components.
2. Develop safety requirements, safety cases, and safety-critical software and hardware architectures in accordance with industry standards and best practices.
3. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including systems architects, software engineers, hardware engineers, and machine learning experts, to ensure safety considerations are integrated throughout the product development lifecycle.
4. Evaluate and ensure compliance with relevant safety standards and regulations, such as DO-178C, ISO 26262, IEC 61508, and others specific to AI and robotics applications.
5. Participate in safety reviews, audits, and certification processes, liaising with regulatory bodies and independent certification authorities as required.
6. Establish SAIF’s safety engineering plans, standards, processes, tooling, and continue to improve the way we work by staying up to date with the latest advancements in safety engineering for AI and robotics systems.
7. Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior safety engineers and other team members.
Key Skills and Experience
1. Bachelor's, Master's degree or PhD in Safety Engineering, Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field, with a focus on safety-critical systems.
2. Extensive experience in safety engineering, with a proven track record in delivering safety-critical systems, preferably in the AI, robotics, or aerospace domains.
3. Extensive knowledge of safety engineering methodologies, tools, and best practices, such as Functional Hazard Analysis (FHA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), and Safety Case development.
4. Strong understanding of safety-critical software and hardware development standards and certification processes (e.g., DO-178C, DO-254, ISO 26262, IEC 61508).
5. Familiarity with AI and robotics safety standards and guidelines (e.g., ISO/IEC TR 24028, IEEE P7009).
6. Experience with safety-critical system development in regulated industries (e.g., aviation, automotive, medical devices) is a plus.
7. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
8. Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
