St Clare Hospice is a charity that provides specialist palliative care to patients and families in West Essex and the East Hertfordshire borders.
With limitedNHS funding, we need to raise more than 70% of our annual costs to provide ourvital services; in 2024/25 the running costs are expected to be £7.3 million. We therefore rely on our local community to help us raisemoney each year so we can continue being there for local families facing one ofthe most difficult journeys in life.
This role is for someone who has proven leadership skills, enjoys managing projects and developing new processes. Pooling reports and regular audit of system usage is key to this role, ensuring consistency and integrity of data outputs. Along with this, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing and using the hospice data dashboards

Main duties of the job
TheClinical Database Manager is responsible for the operational use of thedatabase by all clinical staff and the strategic use of the system alongsidepartner providers.
Thedatabase used by St Clare is SystmOne, and the organisation requires thesuccessful applicant to support and develop new processes and structures tomanage this system whilst supporting staff to use it optimally. Pooling reportsboth regularly and ad hoc is also a key component of the role to ensure that weare committed to the model of intelligent data informing our practice. Leadershipskills are required to ensure effective use of the system and aid understandingof the impact of data entry on system outputs.

Job responsibilities
To managethe clinical database within the hospice, seeking new approaches on themanagement, storage, pooling, and demonstration of data.
Tolead on system improvement ideas and requests, scoping, prioritising andproject managing the change process.
Toprovide support and training to administrative colleagues for systemadministration tasks and specialist training on SystmOne to ensure consistencyin recording.
Tomaintain high data quality, through completion of regular system audits andcleansing of data.
Tolead on any clinical dataset testing and data modelling updates, liaisingclosely with key personnel to ensure consistency in recording and robusttesting.
Tobe a key link with the Integrated Care Board (ICB), delivering quarterlypresentations to demonstrate outcomes, providing data and strengthening thedemonstration of delivery of care from St Clare Hospice.
Workwith the Head of Quality and Governance to consider new and innovative ways tomanage Business Intelligence (BI) within the Hospice.
Tocontribute to the design and delivery of any ad hoc reports required internallyby partner providers or funders (NHS or otherwise).
Representthe hospice within the national SystmOne membership and conference, ensuringthat St Clare Hospice is learning from best practice.
Supportall teams in building the profile of the BI/data aspect of patient care andwork with clinicians to become more confident in using data to support serviceprovision.
Managethe organisations clinical dashboard and provide insight to needs of theservice and how this should be reflected in data provided.
Manageand chair the quarterly database steering group working with clinical teams,responding to system change requests, making appropriate changes and managingexpectation of the teams around this.

Qualifications
* Degree or equivalent experience in relevant subject
Experience
* Experience of using SystmOne or similar clinical database
* Experience of supporting clinical staff in the use of SystmOne or similar clinical database
* Demonstrable experience in analytical review, interpretation and judgement
* Report writing skills
* Highly experienced in use of Microsoft Office packages
* Statistical analysis

* Knowledge and experience of organisational governance requirements for health/social care providers
