We are offering a full-time Band 7-8a opportunity as a Clinical Nurse Specialist Independent Prescriber working predominantly with our South-West team in Guildford, with an expectation to cover our bases in Chertsey, Epsom, and Redhill. The banding will be dependent on experience.
The post holder will be proactive in reducing harm in line with the recovery agenda and advocate for service users in addressing their physical, mental health, and social care needs.
We are looking for a dynamic nurse who has a genuine interest in and empathy for people with drug and alcohol addiction. This post is based currently at Farnham Road Hospital, Guildford, but there may be flexibility. There is an expectation to deliver interventions across Waverley and the surrounding area.
The post involves working as part of a Multidisciplinary Team providing comprehensive assessments, safe prescribing practices, and 1:1 key work support for service users using both drugs and alcohol as part of their Recovery Treatment Plan. You will need a strong understanding of the complex needs of people with addiction. Experience in strong team working across divisional and organisational boundaries is an advantage. The role is varied and exciting.
The successful applicant will have experience of working within the substance misuse and/or mental health field, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and an understanding of the problems faced by people with substance misuse issues. A thorough understanding of the competencies prescribing framework from RPS is essential, and candidates should be able to demonstrate these competencies.
