Overview:
Sensible Staffing are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Temporary Mental Health Support Worker to join our team, working in a prestigious private service in Kendal, (about half an hour from Lancaster). This role involves providing critical support to patients with mental health needs, ensuring their safety, well-being, and participation in therapeutic activities within our private hospital setting. The successful candidate will work closely with our multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality care and support services.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist patients with daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, and medication management under supervision.
* Provide emotional support and encouragement to patients, fostering a positive and therapeutic environment.
* Facilitate and engage patients in social, recreational, and therapeutic activities as part of their treatment plans.
* Participate in the assessment of patients' needs and contribute to the development and implementation of individualized care plans.
* Monitor and report on patients' progress and any changes in their mental health status to the relevant healthcare professionals.
* Respond promptly and effectively to any crisis situations, ensuring the safety and well-being of patients.
* Implement de-escalation techniques and provide support during emergency situations, following hospital protocols.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of patient interactions, progress, and any incidents.
* Prepare reports as required and ensure all documentation complies with hospital standards and regulations.
* Work collaboratively with mental health professionals, including psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and nurses.
* Attend team meetings and contribute to case discussions and treatment planning.
* Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities provided by the hospital.
* Stay informed about best practices in mental health support and incorporate new knowledge into practice.
Qualifications:
* Education: Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent; a certificate or diploma in mental health support, social work, psychology, or a related field is preferred.
* Experience: Previous experience in a mental health support role, preferably in a hospital or healthcare setting.
* Skills:
o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
o Strong observational and problem-solving abilities.
o Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
o Compassionate, patient, and empathetic nature.
* Certifications: Current First Aid and CPR certification; additional certifications in mental health support or crisis intervention are advantageous.
* Other Requirements:
o Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
o Successful completion of background checks.
o Physical ability to perform job-related tasks and assist patients as needed.
