Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within the Specialist Sarcoma Multidisciplinary Team as the Lead core nurse member. To undertake the Key worker role as identified in the 2004 Manual of Cancer Standards providing support, information and advocacy for sarcoma cancer patients and their carers. To work in collaboration with clinical colleagues to develop and improve services and the quality of care provided for sarcoma patients in line with national guidelines including the NHS Cancer Plan and Improving Outcomes Guidance. To provide advice and support for all members of the MDT in the care of sarcoma patients at any stage of their disease. Provide leadership and direction to the team acting as a role model and patient advocate. Assess, plan, and implement care providing advice and maintaining associated records. Manage staff team and a budget. Involve other practitioners and agencies to meet complex needs. Main duties of the job The sarcoma CNS team leader is responsible for delivering high quality co- ordination care to support the Orthopaedic Sarcoma service on a day to day basis. The team leader have managerial responsibilities ensuring all Trust policies and procedures are adhered to within their own practice. The post holder will lead a team to provide adequate cover and ensure the service is supported throughout periods of sickness and or absence due to holidays. The post holder will be a point of reference for the Orthopaedic Sarcoma Service and will lead by example to provide an exemplary model for others to follow. The post holder must have excellent communication skills to which will enable them to communicate with patients, relatives and all members of the multi disciplinary team as well as outside agencies.
