Our holistic post-16 Study programme is highly effective at supporting our learners to make progress from their starting points, which for many of our cohort is considerable. A significant proportion of Waythrough learners have additional needs and barriers, their prior attainment is low, and learners have often had difficult experiences of education.
Summary of role
* Plan and deliver a selection of interventions to small groups of learners
* Work with class teachers to raise the attainment of learners
* Promote learners’ independence, self-esteem and social inclusion
* Provide support to learners, individually or in groups, so they can access the curriculum, engage in learning and experience a sense of achievement
* Support learners with Educational Health Care Plans, in line with their educational programmes.
* Contribute to effective assessment and planning by supporting the monitoring, recording and reporting of learner performance and progress as required
* Use allocated time to devise clearly structured activities that interest and motivate learners and progress their learning
* Provide cover for colleagues when required
* Provide high quality learning resources for all students through the use of adaptations and differentiation
* Liaise with parents/carers/outside agencies where appropriate
* Communicate their knowledge and understanding of learners to other school staff and education, health and social care professionals, so that informed decision making can take place on intervention and provision
* You will be responsible for safeguarding learners and adhering to Waythrough's Safeguarding policies.
* Provide our learners with learning opportunities that aspire to be outstanding and adhere to those standards within the common inspection framework.
Safeguarding at Waythrough
* Uphold our duty to protect individual children identified as either suffering, or likely to suffer, significant harm as a result of abuse or neglect
* Ensure that all concerns and allegations of abuse are taken seriously and responded to appropriately
* Work with service users in ways that are transparent and supportive, and to keep them informed of our policies and procedures.
* Use best practice in the recruitment and training of workers, to ensure that we recruit workers with the skills and knowledge to provide high quality support to our service users.
* Ensure that all workers have access to high quality induction, training, and supervision.
* Work in partnership with colleagues in Social Care and the Police to ensure a prompt and effective response is provided to children at risk of harm
* Ensure that no child or group of children will be treated any less favourably than others.
* Treat safeguarding as a priority that is discussed within Waythrough at every level from team to Board
This post requires regulated activity with children and therefore will require an Enhanced DBS check with both children and adults barred list information. It is an offence to apply for this role if you are barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children or adults.
If you are not currently working with Children/Young Adults you will be required to provide a reference from the relevant employer from the last time you worked with children.
