The Opportunity
Due to projects ramping up, an exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Shift Mechanic to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team that operates and maintains the client's site. Working as part of the engineering team, you will be responsible for providing Mechanical support for the site.
Shift Pattern
12-hour shifts based on a 4 on 6 off pattern - 2 x 12-hour days and 2 x 12-hour nights.
Your Duties and Responsibilities
1. Undertake planned maintenance and overhaul of plant equipment and site facilities.
2. Undertake reactive repair of plant equipment and site facilities.
3. Install new equipment and modifications to existing items.
4. Undertake post-maintenance and post-installation proving of equipment prior to handover for operation.
5. Carry out testing, inspection, and reporting of plant condition to pre-determined and self-established schedules.
6. Understand, implement and comply with site SHE procedures and identify opportunities for improvement.
7. Co-ordinate other trade and support activities.
8. Source materials for maintenance tasks within Engineering Stores and purchasing procedures.
9. Operate within site maintenance team, communicating with relevant groups to determine task needs, priorities, and time frames.
10. Use computerized and paper information systems to record task history and brief other maintenance staff for job continuity.
11. Share and develop skills across a broad range of disciplines and use the skills to best advantage.
12. Be proactive in maintaining and developing knowledge and skills to meet needs of the position.
13. Undertake tasks outside main area of skill and competence under TEST principles.
14. Ensure that housekeeping standards within the engineering workshop and in each area of the site are maintained.
15. Understand and apply the requirements of the site quality management system.
16. Assist in quality checks and calibrations and support others as required.
17. Be aware of, and apply safety health and environment rules, procedures, and legislation, particularly in the mechanical field.
18. Encourage and support compliance with safety health and environment rules, procedures, and legislation amongst the client, employees, and contractors.
19. Ensure risk assessments and other safety assessments are completed in advance of non-routine and routine activities.
Qualifications & Experience
1. HNC/HND (or working towards) in a relevant Mechanical subject.
2. Time served Mechanical apprenticeship.
3. NVQ level 3 Mechanical Engineering.
