Job Description
Astell Scientific Ltd is a proud manufacturer of Autoclaves, Effluent Decontamination Systems, and other categories of lab-based equipment. Astell is seeking a design engineer who will be responsible for maintaining design office activities and processes, ensuring projects are completed in a timely and efficient manner, in accordance with customer and/or company specifications and in line with Astell’s quality system.
Responsibilities
1. Producing working drawings/schematics for internal production personnel and suppliers.
2. The engineer will, in time, provide technical assistance to all departments where necessary, specifically to colleagues in the workshop.
3. Compile Bills of Materials (BOMs) using the company MRP system ensuring a high level of accuracy - training will be provided on the system.
4. Keep all administration up to date, which will include drawing registers, technical files, electronic job folders, and other associated documents throughout the business.
5. Communicate and liaise with all relevant departments i.e., Production, Sales, Purchasing, Service, Quality, and Compliance.
6. In time, as product knowledge develops, the engineer will be expected to work closely with workshop staff to update/modify/improve current parts, BOMs, processes, or documents to ensure efficient production and ensure a high-quality product is maintained throughout Astell’s range.
Desirable Skills
1. Comprehensive knowledge and use of core Microsoft 365 programs.
2. Good communication skills, verbally and written.
3. Knowledge of electrical circuits and installations.
4. Knowledge of PLC circuits and installations.
5. Knowledge of pneumatic systems and installations.
6. Knowledge of pipework schematics and installations.
7. Knowledge of sheet metalwork design for manufacture.
8. Knowledge of regulatory standards/directives i.e., PED 2014/68/EU is especially advantageous.
9. Proven knowledge and use of Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD is especially advantageous.
