Job Title: SHEQ Advisor - MEICA
Location: Remote (Occasional travel to site)
Rate: £370 (Awaiting IR35)
Duration: 4 months +
People Group is looking for a Health & Safety Advisor to work for a leading service provider in the water and wastewater infrastructure sectors in the UK.
Responsibilities:
1. Ensure delivery of legislative compliance and promote continuous improvement of safety and performance.
2. Support Site Teams in identifying solutions and options to overcome issues.
3. Deliver Toolbox Talks, safety briefings, and wellbeing campaigns.
4. Provide training and advice, encouraging the reporting of near misses through proactive engagement with operatives and supervisors.
5. Review risk assessments and method statements, verifying temporary works are implemented safely.
6. Conduct investigations of incidents and accidents, identifying root causes and recommendations to prevent recurrence.
7. Report incidents in line with Client and MWS minimum requirements and submit reports within agreed timescales.
8. Ensure actions from investigations are acted upon and close-out the report in a timely manner.
9. Assist in identifying safety training needs for site-based personnel and bring these to the attention of the Regional Health and Safety Manager.
10. Cooperate with the Health and Safety Executive during their site visits.
11. Suggest, communicate, and promote initiatives for accident prevention, promoting innovation and different ways of working.
12. Monitor compliance with electronic management systems.
Qualifications and Experience:
1. Proven experience as a Health and Safety Manager with a background in MEICA.
2. Experience within the water sector for a Tier 1/2 Contractor.
3. Hold a relevant EHS Qualification (NEBOSH Construction and/or IOSH).
4. Experience reviewing and approving subcontractor RAMS and SOPs and ensuring compliance with AWS standards.
